The Moments We Almost Lost

When I was a child, my family was always busy.

My parents were occupied with work, and I was focused on school. Every day seemed to move faster than the last. When we came home, we were often too tired to do anything more than retreat to our own rooms and prepare for another busy day.

The backyard was right there, waiting for us.

But little by little, we stopped using it.

The grill that once brought our family together became harder to maintain. Cleaning it after every barbecue felt like another task on an endless list. The birds that once visited our garden became something we rarely stopped to notice. The plants and flowers that could have filled our outdoor space with life were left waiting for another day.

And somewhere along the way, we lost something more important than a clean grill or a beautiful garden.

We lost the simple moments of being together.

I can no longer remember the last time my family gathered in the backyard for a barbecue, sat quietly watching birds fly around the garden, or spent an afternoon taking care of plants together.

What I do remember is how those moments made us feel — connected, relaxed, and truly present with each other.

Life moves quickly. Between work, responsibilities, and endless routines, it becomes easy to forget that the most meaningful memories are often created in the simplest moments.

We realized people don’t need more things to do. They need better ways to make time for what truly matters.

They need tools that remove the unnecessary effort from everyday outdoor living, so they can spend less time dealing with chores and more time enjoying the moments they love.

That realization became the beginning of Joywink.

We created Joywink to help families rediscover the joy of their backyard — from sharing meals around the grill, to welcoming birds into their outdoor spaces, to nurturing a garden with their own hands.

Because a backyard is not just a place outside your home.
